Sandra Magro, Cotec environmental expert, gives a session on the Anthropocene era

Sandra Magro, specialist in environmental sustainability and biodiversity, founder of Creando Redes. and Mr. Greenfilm, and a member of Cotec's 100, visited the students of the Master's in Innovation and Customer Experience at EAE Business School Madrid to review the characteristics of the Anthropocene era in which we live, within the subject of Design of Futures and Sustainability.

Sandra Magro reviewed the environmental situation of our planet and reminded the students that, if we continue at this rate, we will not be able to reverse the negative impact that humans have had on the planet. Starting from the idea that we should not forget that we are one more species within nature, but that we are the only one that consciously destroys our ecosystem, she insisted that continuing to act in this way is like throwing a punch directly in the face of The humanity.

Magro also spoke about natural capital, the deception represented by many companies focusing their sustainability strategies on Greenwashing, and she gave clues to address sustainability problems through actions with real and measurable impact. For example, integrating biodiversity and environmental services into the core of companies, establishing action plans that truly commit to avoiding the net loss of biodiversity in the short term, and clearly and honestly monitoring progress in these practices.

The students were able to place themselves in the crude but real situation of our society regarding sustainability and acquire the commitment to propose their innovation projects focused on contributing positively to reducing the impact. Through the debate and reflection with Sandra Magro, they were able to better understand the important role they have as designers of products and services and generators of experiences to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
